Scented candles were once seen as belonging in the ‘bad gift’ category, along with gift vouchers, towels, or even worse … cash.  Giving one of these meant you were unthoughtful, uninspired, and just plain lazy, which are attributes that were generally assigned to everyone’s dad at Christmas.

However, scented candles are now witnessing a resurgence in popularity, with candle fragrances becoming as sophisticated as the highly lucrative perfume industry.  Scented candles are the ideal creator of ambience, which can be used to invigorate, relax or even inspire the senses.  Around 80% of candle buyers indicate fragrance to be the most important factor when buying a candle, with colour being second-most important factor.  Instead of the generic vanilla and ‘winter spice’, scented candles are now available in a dizzyingly varied array of fragrances, such as vetiver, nettles and red brick houses, and freshly baked shortbread.   [Read more...]
